General Salary Comments:
Up until January 2002, Buchanan Ingersoll had two separate bonus programs. The first, which was a stepped billable hours bonus, awarded associates up to $30,000 based upon the number of billable hours he or she billed over the 1950 minimum requirement. It was non-discretionary. The second program was a "merit" based program in which the amount of the bonus was based upon discretionary factors. An associate could earn up to an additional $30,000. Beginning in 2002, the automatic billable hour bonus was discontinued in favor of a totally discretionary-based bonus system in which the associate could earn up to $60,000 in bonuses. However, although billable hours play a part in the decision whether to award a bonus, the associate is no longer guaranteed a bonus for billing in excess of the billable requirement.
