I moved from a BigLaw firm in LA to OC. My perception is that BigLaw in OC is not doing well compared to a lot of firms in OC. (Just my perception folks.) I'm sure you heard MoFo is gone, though I heard it was a very profitable office (the firm just decided, perhaps wrongly, they didn't need an OC office between LA and SD).
There are a lot of mid-size and smaller (some "spin offs" of BigLaw) law firms in OC that are doing quite well. Just sharing what I know. Good luck.
