As is the practice at S&C, every associate gets an individual memo. The only memo I have physically laid eyes on is addressed to me, a member of the class of 2003. My friends in the class of 2003 have all told me that they got a similar memo, namely $45K bonus, $190K salary next year.
It doesn't surprise me that somebody senior got a larger bonus; at S&C there can be a high degree of variability at the highest associate levels, particularly (from what I've heard) for those who are told, "you didn't make it this year, but we hope you'll stick around and try again."
